Young peopleyou're not alone

Is it happening to me?

Everyone deserves to be in a safe and healthy relationship. Do you know if your relationship is healthy?

A healthy relationship has love and trust – you can be yourself and talk about how you feel and what you want. Even when you don’t agree or argue you try to understand each other’s views and decisions and find a way to work things out. Both of you should compromise and respect each other’s opinions. When you are in a good relationship you feel comfortable and not under any pressure to impress or do anything you don’t want to do or unable to do things you want to do such as spend time with family and friends.

  • Healthy relationships are based on equality and respect
  • Unhealthy relationships are based on attempts to control the other person
  • Abusive relationships are based on power and control
  • If you think that your relationship is unhealthy or abusive, it is important to remember that you are not alone and that the abuse is never your fault. Trust your gut feelings and surround yourself with supportive people. Find out where you can get help.
