JWA held an exclusive evening with Great British Bake-Off semi-finalist Stacey Hart, who did a very entertaining cooking demonstration in Borehamwood. 45 women attended, raising over £1000 for JWA!

It was an amazing evening event, entirely in aid of Jewish Women’s Aid, with a cooking demo, a raffle, a lot of laughs and some fabulous food. She made two of her own mouth-watering recipes: a no-sugar Victoria Sponge, and her own gorgeous “Glittery Chocolate Cookies”. 45 women had a great evening with her, and hugely appreciated the chance to learn from the expert!

There was a raffle which was a huge success, with gifts donated from local businesses including vouchers for acupuncture, a meal at Hendon Park Café, beauty vouchers and more.

JWA were delighted that the event raised over £1000. It also raised awareness of JWA, and awareness of domestic abuse in the Jewish community, as for many of the women attending this was their first JWA event.

Naomi Dickson, Chief Executive JWA, said:

“Stacey was incredible, we’re so grateful to her for giving us her time. It was great to have her there to help us raise awareness of domestic abuse in the Jewish community, especially to people who hadn’t engaged with JWA before. The more people know about us and what we do, the more effective we’ll be at bringing women into the service and helping them turn their lives around."
