Our professional client support team is the lynchpin of JWA's services for women affected by domestic violence and abuse, offering short- and long-term practical and emotional support.

Our aim is to prioritise your safety, and help reduce your levels of risk. Our senior client support worker is an accredited IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate) and has recently been accredited by Safe Lives to work with medium and low-risk clients.

Another member of the team is accredited by Women's Aid as a DAPA (Domestic Abuse Prevention Advocate). The Client Support Team manager holds Safe Lives accreditation as Service Manager.

The JWA client support team aims to enable and empower you to take back control of your life. Our trained staff provide information, advice and support that is relevant to your own circumstances. Together, we work to draw up a plan of support according to your specific needs and requirements.

Informing you

We do not judge or force our own opinions on you, but we make sure you are given objective advice and feel believed, never blamed. We help you to understand your options so you can make informed choices.

Supporting you

The client support team in London and Manchester can offer:

  • risk reduction and safety planning
  • advice on legal options from solicitors offering a pro-bono initial consultation
  • financial and benefits advice
  • access to safe housing
  • emotional support
  • access to one-to-one coaching (including return to work)
  • support with applying for a 'Get' (Jewish bill of divorce)

Thanks to generous grants, the team are also sometimes able to offer additional support including beds, bedding, essential furniture, ovens and computers, as well as deposits for new tenancies. The grants also contribute towards the cost of our much-needed family days out with children. Other donations enable us to give our clients urgent cosmetics, and packages of festival foods at the Jewish New Year and Passover.


Confidentiality is vitally important to us. Information about you and your situation will not be passed on to anyone else, unless we are concerned about yours or someone else's safety. This will always be discussed with you wherever possible, prior to the referral.Confidentiality
