Jewish Women’s Aid is the only specialist charity in the UK working with Jewish women and their children affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. We run a holistic and culturally sensitive service, offering advocacy and emotional support, counselling, group work, helplines, web chat and children’s therapy services. Our preventive educational work takes place in synagogues, schools, on campus and across Jewish community settings.
Part Time Counsellor
Qualified Counsellor (BACP/UKCP accredited)
- 17.5 hours per week (over 2.5 days)
- From £33,000 to £37,000 pro rata, according to experience
JWA’s counselling service provides a free person-centred face-to-face and telephone/ remote counselling to women experiencing all forms of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
The post holder will be based at JWA’s head office in Barnet, and will work with 13 clients a week. You will receive regular clinical supervision and CPD opportunities.
We are looking for a compassionate, non-judgemental and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting abuse survivors. You will already have experience of working with vulnerable clients who are survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. Good understanding of domestic abuse dynamics and knowledge of the Jewish community is essential.
EMDR training and Hebrew speaking will be an advantage.

Requirements:
- Qualified counsellor at minimum diploma level (BACP, BPC, UKPC or similar accredited) in person centred/integrative counselling
- Good understanding of domestic abuse dynamics
- Knowledge of the Jewish community
- Commitment for minimum of 2 years
