For too many women and children experiencing coercive control, home is where fear begins.

Every day, Hannah was trying to keep the peace

From the outside, her family looked like any other. What nobody could see was the constant pressure she lived under.

Coercive control is an act or pattern of abuse used to harm, punish, intimidate, or frighten.

Women experiencing coercive control are often made to feel trapped, dependent, and responsible for the abuse they are facing.

Hannah tried to protect her son from the tension at home. But he noticed more than she realised. It was then that she knew she needed help.

Jewish Women’s Aid helped Hannah recognise that what she was experiencing was abuse. Jewish Women’s Aid helped Hannah and her son feel safe at home again.

Your support makes safety possible

88% of the women who came to Jewish Women’s Aid last year were experiencing coercive control.
