Penny Simmons
Penny joined the board of Trustees in 2024. Penny is a qualified tax lawyer and works as a director at a multinational law firm. Penny has extensive experience of advising large corporates on tax risk management, with a particular focus on employment taxes; whilst also fulfilling the role of practice development lawyer. Penny is passionate about D,E&I and champions several causes including: social mobility, mental wellbeing, cancer prevention and the promotion of women across law. Penny has extensive experience of training lawyers and non-lawyers and regularly mentors junior lawyers and aspiring solicitors.
Penny has been actively involved in the Jewish community since her youth. As a young adult she was a madricha for FZY, including leading teenagers on Israel tour. More recently, Penny was a governor of Nancy Reuben Primary School (2012-2017) and then a trustee of Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School (2021-2024). In 2018, following a cervical cancer diagnosis after routine screening, Penny became a media volunteer for Jo’s Trust (which until recently was the UK’s only dedicated cervical cancer charity) and regularly supports campaigns to raise awareness of the importance of cervical screening and the HPV vaccine. Penny is also a single mum to three boys.
