Jewish Women’s Aid is the only specialist charity in the UK working with Jewish women and their children affected by domestic and sexual abuse.  We run a holistic service offering casework, counselling, group work, helpline and children’s therapy services, as well as school, campus, training and community awareness raising programmes.

JWA offers a friendly and supportive work environment, where everyone in the team is valued.

We currently have the following vacancies:

Safer Dating Project Worker

21 hours per week
Salary: Up to £24,000 pro rata depending on experience
Currently home-based, but under normal circumstances, based at our London office

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual, with a strong youth work background to lead and develop our flagship ‘Safer Dating’ Programme. Our peer-led programme reaches out to thousands of 16-25 year olds each year, covering a range topics including healthy relationships, domestic abuse and sexual assault. Our educational sessions are held in a variety of settings, including youth movements, schools and university campuses. We are currently also delivering sessions remotely via zoom, reaching out to young people across the UK.
 
Our ideal candidate will have experience of writing and delivering informal education on sensitive topics to young people, will understand the experiences of teenagers and young adults in today’s society and will be able to make the topic of healthy relationships accessible and relatable to a range of audiences. Understanding of domestic violence and knowledge of the Jewish community is also essential.
 
This post will be based in our head office in London and will involve some outreach work and travel across the UK. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this position will currently involve remote working.

Independent Sexual Violence Advocate – London
To work in our Dina Sexual Violence Service

21 hours per week
Salary: £27,000-29,000 pro rata

Jewish Women’s Aid provides Advocacy through the Criminal Justice System, a Helpline and Counselling for survivors through our Dina Sexual Violence Service.
 
We are looking to recruit an Independent Sexual Violence Advocate to support women aged 16 and over who have experienced sexual violence and who are either considering or going through the Criminal Justice System.
 
You will be empathic and be able to provide non-directive advocacy support with an ability to work under pressure. You will already have some experience of working with vulnerable women and of the Criminal Justice System. A knowledge and understanding of sexual violence is essential.  Knowledge of the Jewish community is desirable but training is available.
 
ISVA qualified applicants are desirable but ISVA training will be given to the right applicant if not qualified.

Manchester: Qualified Children's Therapist
2-7 hours per week depending on demand

You’ll have an exciting opportunity to deliver therapy to the children of our clients in Manchester. You will work in the wider community to provide individual therapeutic support for children affected by abuse and support mothers on parenting issues.

The work will be face-to-face in schools or remotely due to COVID-19 restrictions.

We are looking for an experienced qualified children’s therapist who is enthusiastic, proactive and creative. You will have a relevant therapeutic qualification and experience of working with children. You’ll be passionate about the idea of supporting young people to come to terms with their experience of abuse.

Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and the Jewish community is also essential.

You will be a methodical and experienced bookkeeper, with strong communication skills to enable you to work with budget holders, reporting to the Chief Executive, funders and preparing financial information for the Board of Trustees.
 
Organised and systematic, you will have a track record of achieving targets and establishing high quality processes as well as an ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Domestic Abuse Support Worker – Orthodox communities

Minimum of 21 hours up to 35 hours a week – £27,000 (FTE) per annum

If you feel as passionately as we do about supporting and empowering women, then this could be the right role for you.

This post will work with Jewish women in Orthodox communities affected by domestic and sexual abuse. The post holder will offer practical and emotional support including risk and needs assessment, safety planning and ongoing support. Undertaking outreach and promotion of the service are also key to this role.

You will be enthusiastic, empathic and creative, with an ability to work under pressure. You will already have experience of working with vulnerable women; a knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and the Orthodox Jewish community is essential.

Freelance Facilitators
Ad hoc

The Jewish Women's Aid Education Programme is currently being redeveloped, and we are seeking creative and enthusiastic educators to grow our team. Our education programme works with 11 – 24 year-olds to explore issues relating to healthy relationships, domestic abuse, sexual violence, gender imbalance and power dynamics within society. We work with Jewish schools across the UK, running workshops and assemblies raising awareness and educating young people about relationships. We also work with youth movements and youth organisations as well as students on university campuses and young professionals.

We are seeking freelance facilitators who will be committed to engaging young people in a range of challenging and sensitive topics. They will have experience of delivering high quality education either in schools or informal settings and will be required to deliver in-person workshops as well as online.

We are keen to receive applications from both male and female educators as well as youth leaders or students.
