When I receive a call on the helpline, I feel I am really there to help someone.... Even if they just want me to listen and not speak, I feel that the time I spend with them is so worthwhile.

So many times, I have felt an extraordinary rapport with the caller and I feel that perhaps for that short time, during the call, they have been temporarily lifted out of their misery and despair, and someone has actually listened to them and made them feel good about themselves. After so many calls, the caller has said "thank you - I feel so much better talking to you!" This is so satisfying and makes you feel that you have really made a difference!
