Raise awareness

JWA engages in awareness-raising across the country, networking in all the major communities.

Our toilet-door poster is on the back of over 350 women's toilet doors across the community: in synagogues and community centres. Many women say that it was seeing that poster in the women's toilet which gave them the impetus to call us, the posters can literally save lives.

We also have a toilet-door poster specially designed for the Charedi community, which is suitable for shuls and community centres. We would be happy to send you some of these laminated posters.

JWA literature is increasingly displayed in public spaces: small information cards and leaflets at synagogue reception and on Rabbis' desks, and posters from our annual campaign on the noticeboards of shuls, community centres, surgeries in Jewish areas, chemists and health clubs.

We are regularly asked to speak in Jewish communal settings, and Jewish organisations. Inviting us in to give a talk is a fantastic way of helping us raise awareness.

JWA have regular fundraising events which raise awareness of domestic abuse, and of the need for JWA's services in the community. Recent events have included:

  • A private showing of the Amy Winehouse Exhibition at the Jewish Museum
  • Young JWA Margaritas & Manicures evening
  • A special performance of the show "A Night At The Oscars"
  • Guided walks of London
  • A cooking demonstration evening with Great British Bake Off semi-finalist Stacey Hart

If you want to run a fundraising and/or awareness-raising event, please contact Julia our fundraiser!
