Sam Clifford
Chief Executive
Sam has been fortunate to have a varied and challenging career within the Jewish charitable sector, most recently combining her passion for her synagogue community, Finchley Reform Synagogue, with her professional role as its Executive Director. Before joining FRS, she was the Interim Co-Director of the Jewish Museum, having also held the position of Director of Development. Sam also spent five years working as a freelance project manager supporting organisations such as the Office of the Chief Rabbi, Lead, JVN, JLC, Women in Jewish Leadership, Nisa-Nashim: the Jewish Muslim Women’s Network and Moishe House alongside working as the first professional director of the Yoni Jesner Foundation. Sam was one of the founding professional staff of Lead, the Jewish Leadership Council’s leadership development division working on their leadership programmes and events.
In a lay capacity, Sam was one of the founding partners of Wellspring which is working towards opening a cross-communal centre for Wellbeing with Mikveh at its heart. She featured in The Jewish News’ “40 under 40” at number 22 and is a graduate of the JLC’s Dangoor Senior Leadership Programme.
“I am incredibly honoured to have been appointed as CEO of Jewish Women’s Aid – a vitally important organisation within our community. JWA is blessed with a committed and inspiring trustee board, dedicated and talented staff and volunteers; all charged with working to both support women and girls living with domestic and sexual abuse, as well as educating our young people, community leaders and beyond through our outreach and prevention programme. Sadly, we live in a world where violence against women and girls is never far from the news, and I am looking forward to bringing my professional skills and passion to help amplify and strengthen the work of JWA.”
